Gent BC - BCCM Workshop Ghent collections of (micro) biological material in the spotlight - February 19, 2013
Do you work in the medical field or are you professionally involved with environmental issues ? You conduct research in the food or the pharmaceutical industry? Your job is inextricably linked to watermanagement?
You might not suspect, but all of these diverse areas have something in common. The use of (micro) biological material can play an important role in each of these sectors.
Therefore, Gent BC and BCCM (Belgian Co-ordinated Collections of Micro-organisms) organize a free workshop where the Ghent biological culture collections can be introduced. These are bacteria (BCCM / LMG), plasmids (BCCM / LMBP) and diatoms (BCCM / DCG), all with their own characteristics and applications.
During the workshop, many practical examples will be put forward to illustrate the role of the collections for research and technology. Time will be taken to listen to the needs and questions of the participants. Applications and discussions will focus on the following sectors:
- Medical / Pharma
- Agro / Food / Environment
- Aquatic sector
- 13h30: Welcome
- 14h00: Introduction
- 14h15 : General overview of the collections
- 15h15 : Brainstorming sessions by sector
- 16h30: Networking Moment
More information and examples can already be found on the event page.
