Invitation to "Brussels’ pedestrian zone: insights behind the scene" by Els Ampe - 15 December 2015
Since the end of June, the city council of Brussels’ decision to double the traffic-free zone in the heart of the city has been in place. With a surface of fifty hectares, it is one of the largest pedestrian zones in Europe.
On 15 December, Els Ampe, Alderwoman of the City of Brussels for Mobility, Public Works and Car Fleet, explains how the pedestrian zone started and how it is currently followed up, giving an unique insight into Brussels’ remarkable mobility project. This keynote kicks off the series of student presentations related to the course Sustainable Mobility & Logistics.
