Technology Seminar: Intelligent products with energy harvesting - 20 September 2016 @ Brussels

The University of Brussels, Sirris and DSP Valley kindly invite you for a technology seminar on September 20th, 2016. The focus of this seminar will be on "Intelligent products with Energy Harvesting" and acts as the closing event for a funded TETRA-project. So, if you always wanted to know more on energy harvesting techniques or energy autonomous applications, attending this event is a must.

Program

  • 13h30-14h00: registration
  • 14h00-15h00: project results of TETRA-IPEH (Intelligent Products using Energy Harvesting) - Sam De Winne - Niek Blondeel/VUB
  • We will present energy harvesters based on light, differences in temperature and vibrations. For all these harvesters we measured the amount of energy that can be harvested and developed an energy meter to determine the energy need of some application
  • 15h00-15h30: Case: tracker for railway wagons - Joeri Spitaels/QraQon
  • This application uses photovoltaics to power a system enabling the user to track the position of a cargo wagon every 15 minutes with an accuracy of 2 meters
  • 15h30-16h00: new research project SmartEEH (smart embedded energy harvesting) - Abdellah Touhafi/VUB
  • VUB will conduct a research project for smart embedded energy harvesters. This research will focus on the different aspects and combinations of harvesters, energy storage and energy management.
  • 16h00-16h00: Demo
  • 16h30-17h00: title to be confirmed - Geoffroy Gosset/E-peas
  • 17h00-17h30: title to be confirmed - Ludo Cuypers/COMMeto
  • 17h30: Reception and networking
