Technology transfer at your service
It is our ambition to play an increasingly prominent role in attracting and instigating new economic activity at and around our campuses in the Brussels Capital Region and in the Flanders Region.
The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is the co-ordinating university of the University Association Brussels (UAB), which consists of a strategic partnership between the VUB, the Brussels University Hospital (UZ Brussel) and the Erasmus University College (Erasmushogeschool Brussel, EhB) as key partners.
Several VUB research teams in various fields of research are currently recognised as centres of excellence, usually in an international context. This applies both to fundamental research and to the applications with an industrial or social impact. Thanks to this expertise and its strategic location, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is your ideal partner for prestigious research and education with an outlook on Europe and the world.
Patents, spin-offs, international publications, top researchers, PhDs, VUB has a strong presence on the European research scene and several renowned transdisciplinary research teams. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel takes care that its research is not secluded in an ivory tower, but is conducted with a view to society. That is also the reason why, in recent years, the emphasis has been increasingly placed on interdisciplinary research.
Through the Technology Transfer Interface unit, we try to make our knowledge, know-how and research results available to society, the government and industry. This unit primarily gives assistance with the creation of spin-offs, patents and project-based research.
Important tools in this respect are the BI³ start-up fund, the Zellik Research Park, the Brussels Innovation & Incubation Centre (IIC), the Mercator Science Park and CROSSTALKS, the industry and university network of Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
