Data Innovation Summit 2018

The Data Innovation Summit is an annual business event that reunites all Data Science experts active in the Brussels region and beyond. The theme this year was demystifying Artificial Intelligence, with as a key objective: Have you ever seen AI deliver real value for business?

The event took place at the ULB Solbosch Campus on June 27 2018 and was able to attract a great variety of speakers. Key notes were delivered by amongst others by, Stijn Christiaans from VUB spin-off Collibra, Thierry Geerts from Google and the VUB/ULB’s very own prof. dr. Tom Lenaerts.

The event was structured in keynote, focus and burst speaking sessions and also offered professionals the chance to attend several masterclasses focussed on particular aspects of A.I. One of these masterclasses was organised by icity.brussels and aimed to digg deeper into the human-computer interface aspect of A.I. In so doing the masterclass offered a workshop on how to work with chatbots and voice-controlled interfaces such as Apple’s Siri, a demonstration of different future human-computer interfaces and a presentation by prof. dr. Tony Belpaeme who uses robots in paediatric applications.

The VUB was represented at the summit by dr. Geoffrey Aerts who presented the icity.brussels brand and regional investment program during the morning session.

The next edition will take place on 26 June 2019.
