Quality in Sports

BVBA Double PASS originated in the Sports Management Department and is the brainchild of founding members Jo Van Hoecke, Hugo Schoukens and Robbie De Sutter.  Their complementary skills form the basis of a solid management team.

Professor Jo Van Hoecke, PhD from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, is currently teaching Sports Management at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy. Hugo Schoukens got his MBA Sports Management at the University of Leicester England, is an ex-banker and an independent scientific staff member at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Robbie De Sutter, PhD, is a computer scientist and developed the PASS software.

Achievements

In 2004, the spin-off Double PASS brought its core product PASS to market.

This Professional Academy Support System is a unique instrument for the objective evaluation of the quality, the degree of professionalism, and the targeted improvement of youth academies in sports clubs. The quality improvement that the PASS product range aims for (i.e. consultancy, audit service and certification) enables the commercial and professional (youth) sports sector to improve the throughput of their home-grown talent, as well as the recreational sports sector to build a durable relationship with its stakeholders.

PASS can also serve as a strategic instrument to support clubs in their striving for excellence in youth training, either at home or abroad.

Since 2004 Foot PASS, the system for football clubs and their youth academies, has been implemented in Belgium, in Finland and in Germany. In other sport branches like basket ball (Basket PASS and VBL - Flemish Basketball League) and korfball (Korf PASS and KBKB - Royal Belgian Korfball Association) PASS has also been implemented in Flanders in the meanwhile. In Finland Ice Hockey PASS (Finnish Sports Institute - Vierumaki; Finnish Ice Hockey Association - FIHA) has been introduced since 2004.
