OPTRIMA
Leader in hardware for 3D gesture interfaces
Optrima NV is a Brussels-based fab-less semiconductor company with the single mission to provide 3D time-of-flight (“TOF”) sensor solutions and 3D time-of-flight cameras for building 3D gesturebased interfaces.
Optrima NV was founded as a spin-off company of the Laboratory for Micro- & Photonelectronics (LAMI) of the Department Electronics and Informatics (ETRO) based on years of research by PhD students Daniel Van Nieuwenhove, Ward Van der Tempel and Riemer Grootjans encouraged by their Promotor Prof. Maarten Kuijk.
Products
The Optrima products portfolio consists of DepthSenseTM (a proprietary and patented, native CMOS imager technology providing robust operation in a wide variety of environments, state-of-the-art sensitivity and depth resolution, and optimal system performance) and OptriCamTM (a family of 3D timeof- flight camera systems based on DepthSenseTM sensor and technologies).
Applications
In November 2009, Optrima and Softkinetic SA announced a strategic joint venture to introduce the Softkinetic–Optrima solution. This is the most complete 3D depth-sensing imaging and gesture recognition interface solution on the market.
