VUBIS
A smart library system developed at the VUB
Vubis is a complete portfolio of library software products: V-smart, V-link, V-spaces, V-insight, V-sources and Iguana.
The core product V-smart is an integrated web-based library system with modules for ordering, cataloguing, searching and lending. V-link is a generator of context-sensitive links. Searching in heterogeneous information sources is made possible via V-spaces. V-insight is a browser-based portal for statistical analysis. Electronic subscriptions are managed by V-sources.
Vubis was originally developed at the VUB more than 35 years ago and in 1978, the system became operational in the university’s library. In a later phase, the University of Technology Eindhoven partnered in the further development of Vubis.
From 1987 onwards, Vubis was licensed to a commercial firm, the two universities remaining owners of the software. The current commercial partner is Infor Library and Information Solutions.
Vubis software is used in hundreds of libraries worldwide: in Europe, North America, Australia and Africa.
