Intelligent charging of electric vehicles

  • November 15, 2022

VUB and Brussels startup Octave join hands in the CLEVER project to develop novel energy management systems for second-life battery energy storage system (BESS) in combination with intelligent charging of electric vehicles (EVs).

CLEVER is funded by Innoviris and brings together the academic expertise on electric vehicle smart charging of EVERGi research group and battery cell testing and modeling of the Battery Innovation Centre of VUB with the practical expertise and state-of-the art second life battery technology of Octave. The project will research how second life battery energy storage can efficiently work together with smart EV charging to reduce the impact of EV charging on the energy system. The technology will be demonstrated on the site of UZ Brussel in an operational environment.
