Visit the Academic Lounge of TTO Flanders and come listen to the pitch sessions on May 19. The VUB presents 3 demos and 1 pitch:
BruBotics: improving quality of life through human robotics.
How can robots be used to help and assist humans? Lennert Vierendeels and Simon Beckers will showcase VUB's robotic exoskeletons and prostheses and their potential.
B-LIVER: fostering patient and consumer safety, and human healthcare through innovative models and evolutionary medicine.
Robim Rodrigues is professor at the IVTD consortium and will be happy to discuss its expertise in in vitro methodologies as alternatives to animal testing, liver modelling, toxicity prediction and therapeutic strategies in liver disease.
Reproduction and Genetics (REGE): Innovative models in Reproduction Genetics.
This research group focuses on different aspects of medical genetics, human reproduction, early human development and human pluripotent stem cells.
At the moment there is a licensing opportunity for which an industrial partner is sought concerning APCAD, a novel method for detection of the full spectrum of chromosome abnormalities in preimplantation embryos. Pieter Verdyck is your contact person and will also join the poster session.

Around half a million laboratory animals are used for scientific purposes in Belgium every year. The need for alternative methods to prevent the suffering of these animals is high.
The Innovation Centre IC-3Rs is a scientific platform at the VUB that promotes the implementation of the 3Rs (Reduction, Refinement and Replacement) in scientific research, with the ultimate goal to work without the use of experimental animals when this becomes scientifically and realistically possible.
It aims to collaborate with scientists, public research institutes, industry, funding organisations, regulatory authorities and animal welfare bodies to increase the awareness about the 3R-principles, offer training and practical support in their application and develop new in vitro methodologies as alternatives to animal testing.
Join the pitch by Robim Rodrigues on May 19 at 3.30pm at the Vandergoes room to discover this pioneering platform.
