  • June 30, 2020

Each year, the FWO and the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique award the BiR&D Cross-Disciplinary PhD Thesis Award, in recognition of a PhD thesis that presents an original and cross-disciplinary contribution with potential industrial valorisation and societal relevance.

In 2020, BiR&D granted 2 awards to VUB researchers Seppe Terryn and Tomasz Uchanski. Next to their excellent scientific level, the main criteria included a strong multidisciplinary character and a high potential for industrialisation.
